It’s Tendring Show Time!
Exciting times are ahead and right now I’m busy prepping for my first BIG country show on July 11th where I’ll be setting up in the shoppers marquee at The Tendring Show! https://www.tendringshow.co.uk So I thought I’d do a blog for show visitors to find out a bit more about me and my little arty business.
So this is me, and I’m not fond of being photographed, but this is such a gorgeous photo of Charlie the Clydesdale who lives at Cumbrian Heavy Horses and I had the pleasure of his company for a few days earlier this year. I love all animals and horses have always been my biggest passion … if you visit me at Tendring you will see my painting of the King’s drum horse, Perseus, in his beautiful, highly-decorated bridle which took an awfully long time to paint but I loved doing the portrait of this magnificent horse. And I’ve definitely got a bit of a thing for the heavies!
I’m very lucky to have shared my life with all sorts of animals; large and small, and the love I have for them really helps me to convey character through my artwork. Each portrait is created with care, love, and layer upon layer of colour pencil.
I’ll be at the show with a selection of arty offerings and I’ll be working on a portrait of a dog so please do come and have a look as it’s always nice to chat and hopefully others to get arty.
To brighten your walls I’ll have giclee prints in various sizes, both framed and unframed, and you’ll see a couple of gorgeous highland cows, sheep, pigs, owls, bees, rabbits, mice and more. A lot of my paintings are available as greetings cards and I’ve just added a tote bag and tea towel to my range.
I am delighted to be able to offer commissions with prices starting at £225. Portraits are created using colour pencils which build up, layer after layer to bring a depth of colour and detail that really capture the spirit and beauty of the subject. It’s a very rewarding thing to be able to do for someone and it can be emotional to share the final artwork - I know I’ve got it right when the receiver’s eyes go a bit damp! I only use the finest, professional grade materials so your portrait will remain vibrant and beautiful for many, many years to come.
I usually have a waiting list for commissions so if you think it’s something you’re interested in I encourage you to get in touch early. An A4 size portrait can take 30 hours to do and an A3 is nearer 50 hours of pencil time. All I need are good, clear reference photos to work from and I’m very happy to advise you on how to get the best photographs for a portrait.
So that’s me! I hope you like my little arty stall and if you’d like to follow me on my arty journey please check out my Facebook page Ginny Carter Pet and Equine Portrait Artist https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083302873269 as it helps my small business to grow and makes a middle aged artist very happy! 😁
Thanks for reading, see you at the show! X
