Hi, I’m Ginny

I’m a self-taught artist living on the Essex/Suffolk borders with my dogs and a selection of Shetland ponies.  I’ve been creating animal portraits for many years now.  It all started some years back when I met a friend’s miniature wirehaired dachshund, Hattie, and loved how much character there was in her wiry little face, so I laid on the floor and photographed her and that was my first colour pet portrait done in pastel pencil. Many more beautiful animals have been brought to life on my drawing board since then but Hattie will remain special for starting me off.

Animals have always been at the heart of my life, and through my portraits I aim to capture more than just a likeness – I want to reflect the character of each animal and that deep bond that they share with their humans.  It’s in the reflections in the eye, the softness of a relaxed muzzle, the angle of an ear or that lolling tongue, all these things convey personality and a moment of connection.  My work is a way of preserving those precious connections and creating lasting tributes.

I offer commissioned portraits as well as a range of high-quality prints and original artwork for sale.  I also have a passion for helping people to discover their inner artist and find the joy of putting colour onto a piece of paper so I will be offering workshops and tuition in the future.

I truly love bringing these one-of-a-kind portraits to life and would be delighted to create something special for you.
